Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with former coach Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was over.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to create a final set.
The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
